Harrisburg Web Design Philosophy Webglad.com

Start To Finish

One of my favorite things about the Webglad.com business model is that it's start-to-finish. Webglad will work with the client from domain name selection and registration to site development to actual physical hosting. That's right: Webglad.com hosts sites on its own server, which, is a huge bonus to the client, as, you get to deal with me directly for any type of server issues. And, my policy is pretty simple: If you have a concern, dial 717-557-1555 and ask for Kemal.

Furthermore, the truth is... most websites are never really finished. Sure, sometimes you think they are. But, once they're up, you get new ideas... you think of new pages to add. Or, some pages, such as schedules, simply need to be updated. Webglad.com is a pretty easy company to work with in this respect, because, Webglad is me, and I'm an easy going guy : ).

Okay, Let's Keep This Simple ...

Okay, on the most basic level, a Webglad.com site is beautiful, intuitively functional, and search engine friendly.

You Deserve A Beautiful Website

That's the first premise. You are paying for website creation; thus, you deserve to have a beautiful website. Fortunately, I was first an artist before I became a computer fanatic. I'm still an artist and writer actually. So, you know, I have a natural eye for aesthetics, design, color scheme, layout etc.

A Site That's Intuitively Functional

That's, as far as I know, my own original expression: "Intuitively Functional." It sums up, to me, how a website should be structured. There shouldn't be any sense of mystery as to what the site's about: what its purpose is. That should be very, very clear.

Along those lines, the navigation structure should be consistent from page to page. If you notice, I generally use a few rows of text links across the top of my sites. These are the same on every page. Every page should be accessible from every page... or, in the case of a huge site, at least within two clicks (this is achieved through site maps.)

You'll also notice that I'm not using fancy JavaScript drop down menus. Well, I couldn't resist using them at this site. But, I'll generally avoid them as the search engine bots have a lot of difficulty in indexing pages with JavaScript, but, I'm actually jumping a little ahead, so, please read on.

Make Your Target As Huge As Possible

Webglad balances the latest technologies vs. the awareness of where the average computer-user is at. Thus, the design, generally, relies upon tables for structure and cascading style sheets for formatting. All images are optimized to cut file size. In this way, we are less likely to be inaccessible to someone using an older browser or stuck behind a dial-up connection.

Search Engine Friendly

I go into this in much greater depth here. However, there are still a few points to touch on. As I said, we favor text-link clean, navigation structures which are consistent. The actual hyperlinks are targeted keywords, which have been selected as a result of research. And, the text content is also optimized, to make the most effective impression on the visiting bots. Sometimes it seems complicated, but, it's not really too complicated. We basically want pages that are well-written, unique, valuable: pages that are titled well, linked via good keywords, and that have some really nice inbound links pointing at them from elsewhere on the web.

Don't Be Fooled By Flash

Macromedia Flash animations have gotten quite popular these days, and, take a look at the Flash Animations here, and you'll see Webglad is quite proficient at Flashing and ActionScripting. Yep, I did all of those myself. Just for kicks, take a look at these Flash-animated poems. There is a time and place for tricks, but, such things are best as a spice, rather than a staple. The goal is to cleanly, straight-forwardly present information to achieve the desired expression of information or conversion. Wow, this nicely setting up the next two points.

The Creative Edge

The Creative Edge: that's what you get when you hire Webglad. Fact: The web has gotten very tough these days. The old tricks don't work anymore. You need beautiful, original, and creative content that's presented creatively if you're going to get anywhere. This is the way it is. If you want to be boring, you go nowhere. Take a look at the Webglad work and you will see content that can't be found anywhere else on the web. And, that's why Webglad sites succeed.

Creative Branding

This is a complicated discussion that's best discussed with the client. The basic idea is conceptualizing the emotional response that is generated by your organization. And, to this end, different methods and tools are used. For one example of creative marketing and branding, take a look at the free screensavers that I've given away to promote one of my projects. I've long ago lost track of how many times these have been downloaded, but, one thing is clear: they drive traffic.

Communication With The Client

I've learned in life that being a good listener is more important than being a good talker. I want you to be happy. Webglad.com wants to bring your unique vision into a web reality. Well, it's your vision, so, Webglad listens, makes sketches, tinkers, and labors to take your dream and make it real, right there on your monitor. Ring me up to talk further: Kemal CEO Webglad.com: 717-557-1555. Remember, you can meet with me for no charge and with no obligation. If you decide not to hire Webglad.com, that's fine. So, if you'd like a beautiful website that people are going to be able to find in the search engines, give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you!

Yours Truly,
Kemal
